The Minister of Cooperative Governments and Traditional Affairs, issued directions on 7 May 2020 to facilitate the movement of persons and goods within and across provincial, metropolitan or district boundaries during the period of Alert Level 4.
This is to facilitate the movement of persons and goods, where –
- A new lease agreement was entered into before or during the lockdown period; or
- The transfer of immovable property occurred before the lockdown period.
A person who needs to travel to his or her new place of residence and to transport goods, which are limited to household furniture and effects, is permitted to do so between the period 7 May 2020 to 7 June 2020.
There are certain requirements in order for the persons to travel and the transport of goods which include permits, copies of new lease agreements and transfer documentation.
Unfortunately we received confirmation from the Legal Practice Council last night that they have still not received any directives with regard to the opening of the Deeds Offices. We will keep you informed of any developments in this regard.
